Somali President reaches a preliminary agreement with his semi autonomous Puntland president

After a broad and official meeting in Ethiopia’s capital , Addis Ababa between Somali incumbent president and Somalia’s semi autonomous state president have reached an agreement to put matters in dispute an end in an effort to rule out a wicked divergence which paralyzed the understanding between Somalia Transitional Federal Government and Puntland administration in Somalia.

Speaking to the reporters, Somalia’s Prime minister political advisor, Ali Abdi Aware stated that Somali Transitional Federal Government and Puntland state authorities agreed to heal the misunderstandings which emerged between the two parts during the last talks held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mr. Aware stated that both presidents would resume their private talks over Galkacyo agreement which both sides signed.

Somali transitional federal government and punland were in dispute since Somali government was formed in Kenya in 2004 with Puntland tabled many key economical issues including petroleum exploration in Puntland controlled location and a request of puntland to be allowed to partake in Somali parliamentary and cabinet decisions

When asked him about the Ethiopian involvement in the talks with the two presidents being hosts for Ethiopia, Mr. Ali abdi Aware stressed that there was not Ethiopian engagement in the talks but revealed that Somali politicians were mediating the two presidents

Months earlier, a well organized meeting held in Nairobi in an attempt to make the two sides understand and heal their difference came to failure, Galkacyo agreement was the main cause.
